Abstract
Red archives are invaluable resources that document the history of the Chinese revolution, and the seals used within them authentically reflect the characteristics and applications of red seals. In examining the red archives from the Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu border area, we have identified four distinct types of government seals: a square seal in regular script, a square seal in Song style, a rectangular seal in Song style, and an oval seal in cursive script. These seals can be found in seventeen archival documents dating from 1941 to November 20, 1945, illustrating the phenomenon of "one seal, multiple forms." By exploring the context in which these government seals were used, along with the seal system of the Nanjing Nationalist Government and the official document formats of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia border area, it becomes clear that this "one seal, multiple forms" phenomenon not only reflects the border area government's respect for the Nanjing Nationalist Government but also highlights the revolutionary spirit of the Chinese Communist Party. Leveraging red archival materials facilitates a deeper and more nuanced exploration of revolutionary cultural relics, enriches the research landscape of red archives, and provides valuable resources for preserving revolutionary heritage and promoting revolutionary culture.
